So glad I tried this place out!! I am not a big ramen person but mazesoba hits different! I don't think you can find anything similar in Boston: think thick ramen noodles in a savory umami sauce with lots of hearty toppings. I got the Tan Tan and the hamachi torch roll. Both were so delicious. A little pricey in my opinion for the level of service (nice but not super attentive or anything to write home about). Portion sizes are decent but not big enough for leftovers. Just for myself I spent over $40 after tax and tip and didn't have leftovers. I will definitely be back as a treat!
Really good mazesoba chewy noodles great mixture of sour savory would recommend reasonably priced too
Such a hidden gem! I went there with a party of 6 and while they don't take reservations, the wait was only 10 minutes and the host asked to take out order before sitting us so we have less of a wait time after seating. The ambience is probably better for a smaller party as the store is quite small, but very doable if you have a medium sized party and is willing to wait. Overall very lively and can be a bit noisy, but perfect for small talks. We each ordered a noodle dish and everyone loved it! I had the Thai spicy mazesoba and it's such a unique experience with a mix of spicy, sourness, and flavor with the rich base. I'd recommend for any noodle lover looking for a new place to check out!
I do not know if this is a frequent issue but the ventilation was terrible when I stopped by for an early dinner. The entire restaurant had a heavy smell of burnt oil that ended up sticking to my hair and clothes even though I did not stay for a very long time. The food itself is good and I appreciated how quickly the orders come out. I tried their tan tan mazesoba ($18) which is packed full of aromatics. The noodles themselves were quite filling so I almost did not ask for the extra rice at the end! I was glad I got the rice anyway because they do not give very much so the portion was manageable. The rice soaked up the soft egg, minced pork, and other toppings that were left in the bowl after I finished all of the noodles. My partner got the shoyu mazesoba. Even though there were a lot of ingredient/topping overlaps to the tan tan mazesoba, both had very distinct flavors.
This is one of my favorite places to go in Boston and a place I recommend to friends that come to visit. I always get the Mentaiko Cream Mazesoba and should probably try other things on the menu, but am usually always craving this one. They also make a delicious matcha latte which is only an additional $2 with an order of noodles. The service is always quick and there's usually only a little bit of a wait to get seated. If you finish your bowl of noodles and still have sauce leftover, you can also ask for a free bowl of rice.
Kenzoku Mazesoba gives you a refreshing taste. The service was so-so, even though the price was not busy; it gets even slower when there is a line at the door. - Pink Lady $16.00 Crab salad, Avocado inside w/ torch salmon, scallions, spicy mayo, sweet sauce, and tobiko on top. - Shoyu Mazesoba $19.00 Spicy minced pork, scallion, mixed green, chive, minced garlic, sesame seeds, poached egg. - Yuzu Shio $20.00 Slow-braised pork chashu, scallion, mixed greens, onion, minced garlic, sesame seeds, poached egg. Flavorful. Breaking the poached egg to mix all the ingredients in the bowl together, and with added vinegar, it just became more flavorful. You get a free bowl of rice to soak up the sauce, which I did not try since I was planning to go somewhere else for a second round.
Absolutely perfect dining experience! The service was extremely fast and incredibly warm and welcoming. They filled up our water as soon as it got low and they were ready to bring us anything we needed. The restaurant itself was quaint, clean, and culturally reflective. Though it was a small space, it was not too loud and it didn't feel crowded. The dish itself was absolutely packed with flavor! There was a subtle spice that was not overwhelming and a consistent umami with depth and layers of flavoring. Each topping lended itself perfectly to the overall dish and brought its own element of texture from the crunch of the lettuce to the creaminess of the egg with the sauce. Additionally, the noodles had a perfect soft and slightly al dente texture. And I can't forget: the matcha was cherry on top! As a huge matcha fan, I can say this one tasted incredibly authentic. There was a prominent matcha bitterness that wasn't masked but enhanced by the fresh sweet foam on top. The matcha was the perfect consistency and perfect amount. I have no idea how they were able to make the food so quickly and yet so delicious! The only thing is that their dishes are a little pricey, but the portion is decent and if you're willing to splurge, this is a great place to go! Overall, on a nice cold fall day, this is a perfect quick dinner for anyone wanting something warm and comforting!
Saw the reviews and had to check this little place out! Such a cute restaurant to spend the evening at, the waitresses were so friendly and it was perfect for a Saturday night. It's busy, but their service was super quick. We had the Salmon Don (bowl), and the Kurobuta Sausage. The salmon and the ikura were fresh, and plentiful! Lots of rice underneath and I was full halfway through it. The sausage was definitely something new and so very vibrant, it was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. We loved this place and we can't wait to show our friends this little gem!!
I'm so glad they opened a mazesoba place around Boston!! The first time I've tried and enjoyed mazesoba was in LA, so it is a bit hard not to compare this to my experience there; however, for Boston, this is indeed one of the best. My S.O. and I love their curry cheese and yuzu shio mazesoba dishes. Lots of great flavor and toppings to enjoy. The noodle itself is also perfectly done. The best part is their chashu which is so tender. I also really enjoy the dessert option they offer -- passion fruit panna cotta! Service was quick and it's a nice spot for dates or just hanging with friends. Definitely will be coming back for more.
Sashimi of the Day: Salmon 5/5 Takoyaki 4/5 Tan Tan Mazesoba 4/5 Yuzu Shio 5/5 A casual atmosphere with good food, but pretty pricy. The Food~ The salmon was pretty fresh with lots of meat, fatty, but not fishy. Nothing to complain about. The takayuki was hot and creamy, with tender octopus bits. The sauce wasn't overly sweet and was cool to look at as the flakes moved about. The Tan Tan Mazesoba had a tiny bit of spice, creamy, with the greens to keep it fresh yes savory. Afterwards, they offer rice to mix with the leftover sauce and the nuts felt a bit too much for the rice, but the pork went well with it. The Yuzu Shio had a slight bit of tang, with the yuzu really coming through. This was lighter than the tan tan and helped balanced the palette. The pork was also tender and juicy. With the rice though, it felt a bit too tangy. The logistics~ There's plenty of parking around the area. The staff is nice and leaves you be. There's a lot of warm lighting and natural lighting coming from the windows. It was pricy though. Not sure if I'd come here on a regular basis, but great once in a while.
